How New York City Does The Holidays

Typically, I'm the girl who is playing her Pandora holiday station well before Thanksgiving. This holiday season, however, has been different. WHEN DID THE CHRISTMAS GET HERE?! I have been so busy with school that I haven't been able to pay two seconds of my time to the magic that is the holiday season. Over the past weekend, I was determined to fix this.

I dashed down to Rockefeller Plaza Friday night to meet the boy and gander at the tree, along with hundreds of tourists. Everyone was so thrilled to be there. It was beautiful.

On Saturday night, I went to my church's Christmas concert. Oh. My. Goodness. Seeing that I live in Manhattan, the concert was comprised of Broadway stars, Juilliard-trained vocalists and even Desirae Brown-Luch of The Five Browns, who played Ave Maria with her husband on the violin. I'm not sure church concerts will ever top Saturday night. Magnolia Bakery's hot chocolate preceded the concert, Cafe Lalo followed it. I love New York.

Now it's back into the madness of graduate school. Only two more weeks left in the semester! Oh my gosh. Only two more weeks left in the semester?!?! Cue panic.

Brunching & A New Blog Design To Boot

Look at this view! I mean, really?!

I spent Sunday morning at brunch with some new friends. One suggested we walk up to the roof to check out the view. I couldn't even comprehend how striking it was! I kept walking around the roof, saying "OH MY GOSH" at every turn. I love this city.

I've been waiting to debut the new blog design before I started posting on a daily basis, and I'm grateful to Jenna at Q.A. Design for creating this beautiful space!

I'm so excited to be writing here more often. It's something I've wanted to devote that time to and now the stars have aligned. Check back in tomorrow to find out which role model I met over the weekend! (Hint: She has gorgeous curly hair and blogs about love....)

Macaron Cafe

I was reading Mara Kofoed's favorite Manhattan restaurants last week when she mentioned Macaron Cafe in Midtown, I thought to myself "Hold the phone, I go to school in Midtown".  A quick Google search later and it turns out I was a mere 2 minutes away from these beauties. With today being my FIRST DAY OF GRADUATE SCHOOL, I figure I deserved a little treat, no?

I originally purchased five macarons.

One block later, there were two left.

Not sure what exactly happened in those moments. It's a blur of coconut, Nutella, chocolate goodness.

Best After-School Snack Ever

Treated myself to a little Levain Bakery cookie Thursday after school.

And by little, I mean a fluffy, chocolatey, 1000 calorie handful of heaven.

Have yourselves a wonderful weekend! I'm spending it biking through Central Park, visiting the Chelsea Pier and watching Rocky II (Yes, you read that correctly).

And if I happen to find myself at 74th St and Amsterdam and happen to have an extra $4 and happen to stumble down the steps of Levain Bakery, then I'll just have to get another cookie....Right?

If You Spend More Than 5 Min. Making Fudge, I Feel Bad For You

Not too long ago, a friend gave me some fudge. She then told me how fudge is something she only makes 1-2 times a year as it's so time-consuming.

I'm here to tell you that no, it's not.

Make this.

Five minutes, that's all.

Actually, more like 10 minutes because it's so delicious that you will need to double that bad boy.

Happy Holidays.

You're welcome.
