Framing Scarves

I dipped into Madewell's Soho location last Friday and came across this charming NYC-themed scarf. Combine that with their 40% off sale items promo and I couldn't pass it up. While it looked gorgeous on, I have a hankering to make it into a long-lasting home decor piece.

It immediately reminded me of Kelly Bensimon (take a moment to reminisce about the good ol' days on The Real Housewives of New York..."I'm up here and you're down here"), who turned her Hermes scarves into pillows for her downtown pad.

I love the look but do worry about the scarf to be destroyed. I'm leaning towards framing it. It would be fun to do with this Madewell scarf too!

I must get my hands on this Hawaiian islands scarf.

  1. Love the scarves idea you have here. It actually gave me a few ideas, framing wise. Thanks! btw, did you end up getting that Hawaiian scarf? It's very cool.

Just wondering, if you post up these framed scarves often, would you like to post on my site? I promote the Arts through live painting competitions in Canada. Here's the winning painting from a show I had last week called Dual Force. Have a look if you have a chance, and do let me know if you'd like to post on my site.

    Thanks!

  2. Hope you don't mind me showing the work we do framing scarves with handmade perspex boxes. We sell them here in the UK and also take comissions to frame other peoples scarves as there are so many hidden in draws across the world. Perspex is much better its lighter protects from most UV and sits away fromt he silk so it doesn't distort the silk or image.

Of course this take a specilist skill, nothing worse than pin marks on your silk and puckered silk. interested on what you think!
